Childrey Spring Classic 2014

The inaugural Childrey Spring classic 2014 post event update: On the 30 ^th March the first Childrey cycling event took place leaving from the Pavilion. The routes were a nice 30 mil and a 60 mile round trip which took in some of Oxfordshire and Wiltshire’s finest scenery. We were graced with fine weather which made for a great day for everyone. The first person back on the short route finished in 1hr 46min and on the long route we saw them coming back in 3hrs 10mins with the last 2 people taking a staggering 7hrs 30mins, you know who you are! (apparently the pub food was great). A special thank you to Ridgeway Cycles who, not only sponsored the event by supplying all the water bottles and energy gels, but also donated £200. Thank you also to Sheepdrove Organic Farm who provided the bacon for the bacon rolls. Thank you to everyone in the village who helped on the day and also to those who baked the lovely cakes. The feedback that we got was great and made it all worthwhile. And to top it all off we raised well over £2000 which will help with maintaining the Playing Field. Thank you to all who took part and helped out.
