Childrey Stores

Over the years Childrey has had many shops and retailers; the history of the current Childrey Stores can be traced back to 1850 when it was set up by Thomas Herman as a general store and later also included a butchers. After World War II Childrey coffee was famous throughout the country as Kenyan coffee was imported and roasted on the site of what is now Dolphin House.

Childrey Stores is now a coffee shop as well as continuing to provide the village with fresh food and homewares. Services include: groceries, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, wines and spirits, ice cream and confectionery, fresh bread, salads, sandwiches and cakes, hot and cold drinks, and newspapers and magazines.
