The village hall, once known as “The Reading Room”, is a lively hub of the village. It is located in the centre of the village, close to the duck pond.
It was originally gifted to the village by a Major Dunn in 1896. Over the years, the hall has been extended to provide more up to date facilities for the village, including recently installed cinema screen, hearing loop (for the hard of hearing) projector and Wi-Fi.
It is used by a wide variety of local groups and organisations, which include Childrey and Sparsholt WI, Tuesday Club, Yoga, Art classes, Pop up pub, Parish Council meetings and various social events like ‘The Mummers’ on Boxing Day.
The hall is available to hire for private functions, There is a well equipped kitchen with fridge and cooking facilities. Plenty of plates, cups, saucers, crockery and glasses are available plus tea urns. Toilet Facilities are available. It will accommodate about 100 people standing or 40-50 seated with tables and chairs provided.
The minimum charge to hire the hall is £15 per session.
Hourly rates as follows;
Before 5pm £4.00 per hour
After 5pm £5.00 per hour
Please note £1 coins will be required for the electricity meter which is located in the toilet area.
Cinema Screen, Projector and surround sound are available to hire for an additional charge. We do ask for a £100 refundable deposit for the use of these.
